Margaret Hart was also charged Monday with two counts of official misconduct, he added.
"It is alleged that during the course of approximately four years (2012-2016), Hart, 57, stole over $27,000 from funds collected by the Town Clerk's Office for various fees," Grady said.
The fees included monies collected for refuse tickets, marriage licenses, hunting/fishing licenses and property taxes, the DA's Office said.
A comprehensive audit conducted by the state's Comptroller's Forensic Team, together with the state police provided enough information to the Grand Jury for an indictment, Grady added.
Hart was released on her own recognizance until her next hearing set for April 6.
